By Mr. Chris Ames, Upper School Division Head

Dear Winston Family,

I hope all of you were able to attend the Boots and Bingo fundraiser event this past Saturday night!  In addition to raising much needed funds for the Corrigan Dining Hall refurbishment and other campus projects, the evening showcased why the Winston community is so special - parents and guardians, Board members, alumni, teachers and staff - all gathering together to support each other as a testament to the immensely powerful partnership that exists at the school.  Thank you for all the support - it is certainly a worthy cause!

On the academic front the ACT begins testing sessions this week and will continue through April 18.  If you have any questions about the test, accommodations or future test dates (June, September, etc.) please reach out to Will Jennings.

Senior Projects are in the final stages this month and students are preparing for their presentations during the last week of April.  Mark your calendars for April 28, 29 and 30 (starting at 3:30 pm) so you can catch the culmination of this process in the auditorium.

There are several items in April to keep your eye on:  Mr. Hurley has partnered with a human rights organization and they will be presenting to our US student body on Wednesday, April 2.  The Evening of The Arts will be Thursday, April 3; Our academic calendar will be working along two four-day weeks on either side of the Easter Holiday (½ day on Thursday, April 17; No school on Friday, April 18 or Monday, April 21); This year’s Boosterthon will kick off on Wednesday, April 16 with an assembly in the afternoon followed by the Color Run on Friday, April 25; We end the month with Senior Projects (described above).

It’s a busy time of year on campus!  Please stay tuned to this newsletter for event updates, including graduation information and end of the year ceremonies.

Just remember these inspiring words from Phyllis Diller:  “I want my children to have all things I couldn’t afford.  Then I want to move in with them.”

From the Upstairs,

Chris Ames
