Aftercare

The Winston School is proud to partner with the YMCA to provide after school care for students in Kindergarten-8th grade beginning in the 2026-27 school year. The Y staff offers a variety of supervised enrichment activities including games, sports, arts and crafts, and homework help. Families may may register for the full program by semester or may purchase a punch card if they would like to use the Y for the occasional drop-ins.

Registration is completed directly with the Y, and is set to auto-pay for the months you are registered. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.

Please review this linked flyer regarding the YMCA at Winston.

The cost for the program has two tiers depending on if you are a member of the Y:

  • Member Rates: $100/week (5 full days) or $60/week (2 full days)
  • Non-Member Rates: $125/week (5 full days) or $75/week (2 full days)

Families are asked to register for a full year before the school year begins, but if your situation changes, you may cancel at any time.

Each year there is a $100 per child registration fee. This fee is discounted by 50% during the Super Sign Up Weekend, July 10-13, and the Race-to-Register Weekend, August 7-10.

Winston Youth Sports Academy

Students in Kindergarten-8th grade may also participate in the Winston Youth Sports Academy (WYSA). This program is designed to introduce students to a variety of sports after school. Each session of WYSA typically meets for 6-8 weeks at a time, one sport per day from 3:15-4:15 p.m. Sessions run in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Previous sports included soccer, basketball, flag football, pickleball, PE games, and cheerleading. A sign up communication will be sent by Jabari Smith two to three weeks before the beginning of a session. There is an additional fee associated with WYSA. Please contact Jabari Smith with any questions.

The YMCA has long been a leader in providing enrichment, wellness, and engaging programming for young people. Several other private schools in Dallas partner with the Y for their extended day programming, and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Additionally, they are able to provide exceptional programming that kids love, at a lower cost for families ($$150/week), as compared to the full cost of our offering the program at Winston ($$212.50).
With specially trained, engaging, extended day staff, the YMCA will offer more activities and structured time in the after school hours. A variety of STEM, arts, physical activities, on-site field trips, and play activities will be provided for students across grade levels, including some homework time for our big kids. Parents in other programs report that when they participate in the Y programming, they often don’t want to leave!
Yes, a peanut/treenut free snack is provided to all students who take advantage of the Y after school programming.
The after school program is available from 3:30-6pm daily.
