Upper School

By Mr. Chris Ames, Upper School Division Head

Dear Winston Family,

As Quarter 3 rolls over into Quarter 4 at the end of this week, we find ourselves in the home stretch.  While all Upper School grades continue to march on into May and Finals week, we will pause for a moment next week and take time to connect parents, teachers and students during our on-campus Parent-Teacher conferences.  Parents are invited to schedule a time with their student’s Advisor and allow their student to walk them through the progress they have made in classes up to this point.  Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Please see the recent email from Winston regarding the scheduling process and direct any questions you may have either to myself or our IT Director, Mr. Nguyen.  We look forward to seeing you on campus!

In other news, the ACT is just around the corner in April and we ask parents of Juniors to contact Mr. Jennings with any registration questions.  Mr. Jennings will take care of all accommodations for the test and can fill you in on the schedule during testing week.

A congratulatory note goes out to Ms. Bossalini and the entire cast and crew of the Spring Musical.  The production was previewed by the student body on March 5 and followed up by full presentations on Thursday and Friday, 3/6 -3/7.  This show represented a ton of work by all involved and we offer them a large, virtual round of applause!

The Winston School will again offer credit recovery courses and a few non-core classes over the summer.  If your student needs to make-up a class or would like to take Health and/or Speech over the summer, please let me know.  We are updating the website with current Summer School information and should have all details in place by Spring Break.

Finally, don’t forget to spring forward this weekend with the annual time change!  Take lots of pictures over Spring Break and make sure to share them with Chelsea Adams for our newsletter!

From the Upstairs,
Chris Ames
