By Dr. Jenn Milam, Pamela K. Murfin Head of School and Interim Middle School Division Head
As of this writing, we have officially 14.5 days of school remaining! WILD isn't it?!?!
There are many things to do, events to attend, and preparations to be made as we head into summer. Please take note of the following and mark those calendars!
ATTENTION: SOARING UP 8th grade parents and families!
As part of our Soaring Up Ceremony, we are creating a slideshow to celebrate our eighth grade class and I’d love your help! Please send me three pictures of your student. I’d like them to be the following:
- As a young child (can be toddler, baby, or elementary school)
- Doing something they love or something that is uniquely them (e.g. vacation, art, performing, etc)
- With friends from middle school
Please send these to me, by email, no later than May 9!
The SOARING UP Ceremony is just two weeks from tomorrow - mark your calendars for Friday, May 16, 2025, 2pm! I look forward to seeing you there!
WOLF RUN RANCH - Thursday, May 8
All of our seventh and eighth graders will be off on an adventure day next Thursday to Wolf Run Ranch. This super fun tradition takes our kids up to Van Alstyne for a day of fun, team building, outside play, and exploration - it’s a great way to celebrate a year well-lived and give our brains a break before heading into finals exams. Mr. Thomson has organized and will be sharing details as we get closer next week!
FINAL EXAMS - Tuesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 21
Middle School Exams are Tuesday and Wednesday of our last week of school. As a reminder, students will take their history and English finals on Tuesday, and then math and science on Wednesday. These are half-days with early dismissal at 12:30pm. Please plan accordingly with your middle school student.
LAST DAY of SCHOOL - Thursday, May 22
Our last day of school for the year is Thursday, May 22. We will all convene in the theater for a brief assembly and slideshow to celebrate the year and recognize our seniors. Immediately following, students will receive their yearbooks and have a “signing day” with their friends on campus. Starting about 10:00am, we’ll have fun on the playground and fields with a cook-out and lunch prior to early dismissal at 11:30am. Parents are welcome to join us for the morning and for burgers and hotdogs on the grill to officially welcome summer!
I’m excited to see you and celebrate our awesome middles on campus in the coming weeks! Please, as always, reach out if you have any questions, worries, or concerns!
Be well and take good care of each other!
