YOU are Winston’s Future
Head’s Message by Dr. Jenn Milam
It’s hard to believe that we have arrived at the moment when we are ready to begin thinking and planning for next year! As you know, re-enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year begins tomorrow and will continue through Friday, February 14.
I am pleased, and so proud, of the work we have done this year together, and I am excited about what lies ahead. As we look toward the future of The Winston School, we can celebrate the wins for this year!
- Enhanced security and safety procedures from community name badges to fencing and gating to ensure our place along the tollway, in beautiful Preston Hollow, is safe, secure and well-maintained.
- Curriculum alignment, more robust formative assessments, and more targeted and intentional learning support for our bright students who learn differently to ensure that all of our students, K-12, are successful and thriving!
- A revised daily schedule that allows for more Upper School electives and a more seamless, developmentally responsive instructional flow across all divisions. As a small school, our ability to accommodate and support students with many different learning paths effectively, is directly related to the agility of our schedule. From our littlest learners to our seniors, our schedule this year has allowed for more learning, more growth, and opportunities for enrichment.
- Professional learning for our teachers, leaders and staff on the latest developments in learning differences, cognitive sciences and universal design for learning that will expand and enrich our practices in providing exceptional pedagogical experiences to all students.
- Increased community engagement and an open-campus that welcomes parents, grandparents, and special friends of Winston, has been integral in creating a warm, welcoming and vibrant community that serves as a village for not only our students, but their families as well.
In the coming months, I will offer a more formal annual report that expands on these highlights and also provides a preview of what lies ahead for us, specifically as it relates to strategic partnerships, academic programs and learning support for the incredible young people in our school.
It’s an exciting time to be at Winston, and your re-enrollment secures your student’s spot in our community and allows us to make personnel and programmatic decisions for the upcoming year. We anticipate many of our grade levels will be full, or approaching capacity, and we urge you to be especially mindful of the Friday, February 14 deadline. Once the re-enrollment period closes, we will begin offering admissions decisions to our prospective students and their families. At that time, we cannot guarantee the space or tuition assistance awarded will be available (where applicable).
If you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help! For tuition and financial related questions, please contact our Business Manager, Mr. Mario Porro. If you are having difficulty with the enrollment portal, please reach out to our Director of Information Technology, Mr. Ham Nguyen.
Finally, if you ever need to be in touch with me, you’re welcome to reach out via email. I’m also happy to connect by phone, visit by ZOOM, or we can schedule some time to meet in person.
We know that your enrollment at Winston is an investment, and we are committed to ensuring your student is well-served, engaged and nurtured in each step of their educational journey. I am honored and humbled by your continued trust and confidence in my leadership and the incredible opportunity that is being a Winston Eagle!
In partnership,
Dr. Jenn Milam
