Philosophy

The athletic program at The Winston School is an intricate part of our mission to maximize the potential of bright students who learn differently through sports. Good coaches and programs help students develop discipline, place others before self, and handle both joy and disappointments with grace and a generous spirit. We ask four things of our student-athletes:

  • Represent their school, their team, and themselves with dignity and class.
  • Be good citizens on and off the field.
  • Be leaders in the classroom held to the same high standards as any other student in our school.
  • Be committed to the team and their teammates. Athletes are expected to attend all practices, work hard, take constructive criticism from their coaches, and put the team before individual statistics or success.

At The Winston School, we offer a variety of sports for the upper and middle school students. We also have strong sports programs in upper elementary as well. We ask parents to work with our coaching staff to help us create an environment where these four important factors come to fruition.

Sincerely,
Timothy G. Waters Jr. M.Ed.
