Evaluations Offered
At The Winston School Testing & Evaluation Center there are four types of evaluations we offer: The School Readiness Battery, The ADD/ADHD Screening Package, Full Psychoeducational Testing Battery, and the Extended Psychoeducational Test Battery which is designed for individuals who are over 16 and college bound or adults seeking continuing education. Please see below for information on each assessment.

After the Evaluation
As part of our services, we provide a full consultation with the family to review the assessment results. This feedback conference includes written conclusions and accommodations, a learning profile (which has strengths, weaknesses and recommendations), and suggestions for optimizing academic and life potential.

Cost
The cost for the evaluation, report, and consultations are all covered in the fees listed below.  We accept check, Visa, MC, Amex and Discover.  We are not in network with any insurance provides but can provide documentation for reimbursement through either a medical flex spending program or insurance.

The ADD/ADHD Screening Package

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a medical diagnosis that can impact a student’s ability to learn and delay their educational progression.  The screening package includes assessment of cognitive abilities (also known as IQ), and ADHD screening measures such as the Conner’s Rating Scales (help identify problems in behavior, character traits, inattentiveness and hyperactivity), and the IVA-CPT (computerized test which measures levels of attention and concentration).  Testing takes approximately 2 hours, is completed in one day, and the student is with one diagnostician the entire time.  Approximately a week after the test date, the diagnostician and parents will have a conference to review the results.  The diagnostician will be able to guide the parents to the next appropriate step, which could be a referral to a medical professional or referral to professionals who specialize in alternative means of managing ADHD.

The cost for the ADD/ADHD Screening Package is: $550.00, payable via check or credit card on the day of the test.

School Readiness Battery

What academic placement is your child ready for? Is it Pre-K, Kindergarten, Primer, or First Grade? What educational environment best suits your child’s learning style?
The School Readiness Battery (SRB) is designed to help parents chose the appropriate placement for their children.  This battery of standardized tests helps families understand how their child performs when compared to peers his or her same age.  With this knowledge and valuable teacher insight, parents can make informed decisions about their child’s readiness for school and school placement.
With the SRB, the following areas will be explored and evaluated:
  • Cognitive ability (also known as IQ)
  • Pre-reading or reading skills, including phonemic awareness
  • Mathematic skills and knowledge of math concepts
  • Early writing skills, including pencil grasp and visual motor integration
  • Language, including listening and speaking skills
  • Social skills development, including attention and concentration

The SRB lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours and is typically completed in one day.  Following the assessment, a conference will be scheduled to review the results and offer recommendations.

The cost for the School Readiness Battery is: $550.00, payable via check or credit card on the day of the test.
