Summer Camps

We hope you will join us for 2018 Summer at Winston, we have some exciting summer adventures planned just for you.  We offer several camp options for Winston and non-Winston students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our quality, teacher-led camps focus on enhancing academic skills as well as providing hands-on enrichment experiences. Learning is a lifelong endeavor, and we hope that you will consider Winston Summer Camps for your child as we have a fun-filled summer planned just for them.

Registration will open at the end of March.

Head of the Class

Designed for students entering Kindergarten – 1st Grade

Teacher: Cheryl Terrell

We will build on experiences to get a jumpstart on reading, writing, math and science skills.  The program will include math games, hands-on science experiments, and computer games will be a part of each day.  Field trips are scheduled on Fridays.  Participants will need to bring a lunch and drink daily.

Build Up Summer

Designed for students entering grades 2-4

Teacher:  Meghan Mitchell

Summer enrichment program designed to strengthen phonics and mathematics skills for students entering grades 2 through 4.  Academics will be during the first half of the day, and team building, life skills, and outdoor fun will be during the second half of the day.  Participants will need to bring a lunch and drink daily.

Imagine Celebration

Designed for students entering grades 3-7

Teachers: Genie Frasier and Terri Jackson

Our adventures will stimulate the imagination.  Students will create, explore and problem-solve their way through exciting challenges.  Participants will need to bring a lunch and drink daily.

Summer Reading Assistance

Grades 9-12

Teacher:  Donna LaVecchia

This course is designed to provide guidance and a structured environment in order to help Winston high school students complete their required summer reading assignments.  This includes assistance for seniors writing a college essay.

Academic Recovery and Core Classes

The Winston School is accredited by the Independent Association of the Southwest.  Our courses cover the essential elements required by the Texas Education Association. Because each class must cover TEA  required elements that are typically covered during an entire school year, students should give careful consideration to the time and curriculum before enrolling.  Courses are selected for the Upper School summer program based on student need.  The following courses are frequently available:  English Speech, Health, History (all classes), Spanish, Biology, and  Chemistry.

Eagle Basketball Camp

Designed for students entering grades 4-12

Coach: Timothy Waters

Basketball Camp combines great teaching, high energy, enthusiasm and tons of fun into the camp experience athletes will love.  Focusing on proper mechanics and fundamentals of basketball, including rules of the game, this camp will introduce and teach basic skills, varied individual instructions, games, and more.  It also is personalized sports-based youth leadership program that will provide students a variety of educational experiences, including leadership and career-oriented education activities that focuses on sports-based careers.
